Meet the Owner

Crystal Dunn

Crystal Dunn is the creative force and heart behind JustCakeIt! — a bakery known for its luxury cakes, signature buttercreams, and trendsetting designs. A native of Sardis, Mississippi, she is a wife to Kevin Dunn and proud mom of two beautiful kids, Kaleb and Kyra.Her passion for baking wasn’t something she discovered on her own — it was a gift from God, handed to her during one of the most difficult seasons of her life as she grieved the loss of her daughter, Alyssa Dunn.

What began as a source of healing became a calling. Her first business, Alyssa’s Heavenly Sweets (EST 2012), was named in her daughter’s memory and served as the foundation for what would later become JustCakeIt! when she opened her storefront in Oxford.

  • A Path Shaped by Purpose

    Crystal’s background is rooted in psychology and higher education. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Mississippi and completed all but her dissertation toward her Ph.D. A lifelong learner, she spent 13 years at Ole Miss as an academic advisor, instructor, and later, Coordinator of Advising for the Department of Legal Studies.

    Her time there allowed her to build countless connections and relationships across campus — many of which later became instrumental in supporting and strengthening JustCakeIt!’s partnership with the University, ultimately fueling the bakery’s rapid growth.

  • A Bittersweet Turning Point

    Her life shifted when she made the bittersweet decision to resign to care for her daughter Kyra, who was born with cerebral palsy. In that season, God took the gift He had placed in her heart and turned it into a profession that brings joy to so many — including herself.

  • Full Circle Beginnings

    Now, working closely with the University and its students through JustCakeIt! brings everything full circle for her. It’s a reminder that every season, every challenge, and every blessing prepared her for exactly where she is today.

    Now, with nine years in business and three successful years at her Oxford storefront, Crystal leads JustCakeIt! with faith, love, and a deep sense of purpose. Her journey is one of resilience, grace, and divine inspiration — proof that God’s plans are always sweeter.
